Krista Hemme
Vice President of Marketing and Communication
918-295-6612
Krista Hemme joined TAUW in December 2019.
She is an award winning communicator who most recently served as the Director of Communications for the City of Broken Arrow. In that role, she and her staff spearheaded campaigns for Tulsa's largest suburb through news stories, video production, digital media and public relations. Their work not only informed the public of important information that impacted their lives, but also helped pass critical capital improvement projects that brought millions of dollars in development to the community. You may also recognize her as a former reporter for a local television station, telling memorable stories ranging from natural disasters, like the Picher tornado, to milestones in Tulsa history, such as the construction and grand opening of the BOK Center and ONEOK Field.
Krista grew up in Seoul, South Korea and was adopted when she was 6 years old by a family in Minnesota. Her younger brother was also adopted by the same family, who had just a few years earlier adopted another child from Seoul. It was a big adjustment, going from living in poverty with a single mother in a large Asian city to a rural pig farm in the Midwest. A support network of family and educational resources helped her successfully integrate into the community, and the experience has influenced her understanding of what it means to connect people to the resources they need to reach their full potential.
Krista is a graduate of Oral Roberts University and received a B.S. in Mass Media Communications. She lives in Tulsa with her family and enjoys volunteering and exploring the great outdoors.
