| CONCEPT SUMMARY: |
| The ELS mission is to attract and cultivate the next generation of Tulsa-area philanthropists. We do this through a variety of programming, including volunteer opportunities, educational activities with United Way partner agencies, and mentoring opportunities in large and small groups as well as one-on-one. As ELS continues to grow, we are offering a more focused educational and leadership development program. Similar to other respected leadership programs, this initiative has a limited number of class members per calendar year (approximately 12-15) and an established curriculum, leaning heavily on community experts on the topic as well as TAUW agency partners. The purpose of this program is to more deeply expose young philanthropists to a key issue in our community, equipping them with the necessary tools to be an effective philanthropic leader and, ultimately, to pave the way for them to deliver a long-term and meaningful impact in the Tulsa area. |
| 2019 PROGRAM OUTLINE: |
The 2019 Philanthropy Forum focused on Veterans’ affairs, as the men and women who choose to serve are, sadly, not receiving the same level of service and dedication in return for their time in the military. Identifying available mental/physical health, legal, financial, and employment/training resources is a constant struggle for this deserving, yet under-served, portion of the community, and even once resources are located, navigating the various criterion for eligibility of services can create its own hurdles. Once we have learned the current state of veterans’ affairs in Tulsa and Oklahoma, this cohort will provide assistance in presenting a pitch to the TAUW for an Innovation Grant to create and/or expand a 501C3 program to better serve those who have so honorably served for us. |
